EMS had 93.8% and DMS had 97.2% of their 8th grade students who took the high school-level algebra EOC achieve Proficient and Above.
“These schools exemplify our goal of continuous improvement for student learning, achievement, and growth,” said Superintendent Dr. Terry Oatts. “I commend the hard work of the students, teachers, administrators and families to reach this high level of growth and achievement in mathematics.”
“Once again I am proud of our students for demonstrating high growth and achievement, this time in mathematics,” said Board Chairwoman Pam Brown. “I congratulate Shoal Creek for double-digit growth in one year and our amazing eighth grade students who not only excelled in high school-level algebra but also earned high school credits while in middle school.”
A total of 624 schools across Georgia met the qualifications to be recognized as Math Leaders. Throughout the fall, State Superintendent Richard Woods will visit schools identified as Math Leaders to recognize and congratulate them.
Math Leader qualifications are based on students achieving the Proficient Learner level or above on the Georgia Milestones mathematics assessments.
